During an emergency, if you’re concerned about your family’s safety, don’t wait to be told to evacuate - prepare and leave early.
Depending on the emergency, authorities may ask you to stay where you are and shelter-in-place or they may recommend that you go elsewhere and evacuate.
Under COVID-19 restrictions, if you are given the advice to leave early or evacuate, the best option is to stay with friends or family in a safe location.
There are several pre-identified Emergency Evacuation Centres across Sutherland Shire. Depending on the type and location of the disaster, the most suitable Emergency Evacuation Centre will be determined and communicated through several media channels during an emergency.
